Glacier National Park, Montana

So the question of the day was, how about driving to Kalispell, Montana? My reply was why? What’s there? So did a little research and discovered that a world renown quilt designer resides there. Judy Nieymier, needless to say I was in!

Quilt store in one direction and the hotel in the other.
Apparently the quilt store only has a minimum of 15,000 bolts of fabric!

So we also discovered that the Glacier National Park was close by too. Which explained the exorbitant hotel prices! Good restaurants were not very close by so we opted for take out. Lots of bbq places.

There are two entrances to the park. One is the West Gate, which you need a reservation to enter and drive the Road to the Sun. At this time it was fully booked. Interestingly enough you don’t need one to enter from the East Gate. Either way you need a park pass which we bought online.

Roads were red! Recycled basketballs?

Our decision was to enter through the East Gate which took us a couple of hours. We stopped briefly at the visitors centre just inside the gate to use the bathroom. Parking lot was packed! We made only a couple more stops because of the crowds. Finding parking was next to impossible. We really want to go back but more off season.

The drive through was spectacular very winding roads and Brent loved it! Not to mention the spectacular views 🤩

Most of these pictures were taken through the windshield…should have cleaned it!
And then there was a bear…

Headed home and headed North. Plan was to cross the border to Lethbridge. Plan was to take highway 4.
Turned around when we saw a sign that said “444”. We weren’t too lost as the signpost said Border 60 some miles. Didn’t worry too much until the road became a gravel road. We persevered and found the border. The border guy laughed at us. Such isolation! What an adventure.

Look closely and you’ll see several bird nests!

Dinner at the hotel in Lethbridge.

We did some major shopping in Lethbridge and was going to continue when we saw posts on Facebook about fires above our place so the decision was to boot it home..

Taken from the school on our way home.

There were a total of six skimmers that flew by! And a few bigger planes dropping retardant!
Very grateful 💞
