Schroeder Creek Resort

Finally! Camping! No cell service....no WiFi...and it’s only 10 min from Kaslo.

Full hookups

When we arrived we were warmly greeted and after some discussion we were assigned our spot. We were shown to our site and helped with backing in...wow what a service!  We scored a beautiful spot overlooking the marina and a glorious view of the Kootenay Lake. Unfortunately there is a lot of smokey skies due to the forest fires around us and fortunately the smoke helps to diffuse the strong rays of the sun.

The people here are so friendly...good mornings and hellos are heard ringing out all around us. We even got invited to our first happy hr last night.

There’s one campsite that has a bench between two carved bears. It’s fondly named the telephone booth/bus stop. Apparently you can get cell service there if you need (tells us he’s got a cell booster). The bus stops twice a week at midnight and if you’re lucky you might get on πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰ there are so many beautiful flower pots and carvings all around too. The downside to this campground was the beach. Very very rocky and difficult to keep ones balance even standing in the water.

Very strong winds developed late Sat and carried on through the night bringing with it the smell of smoke. Power went off for several hrs but we were happy to have battery and propane backup. Our only concern was not being able to grind our coffee in the morning πŸ˜‚

Definitely worth coming back...even to just visit the “inmates” πŸ€ͺ
